50 eagles gorging, choking, suffocating on a load of fish guts
this story from Kodiak Island was a couple weeks ago and so is really no longer news. but I think it’s still a handy allegory for presidential primaries and the electoral college.
Some Indians play by the rules and get their "sacred" eagle feathers from the government controlled eagle repository. Other more traditional elders pray and then the eagles come to them and give them the feathers they need. I guess both get what they need and want. This government arrogantly thinks it can control sacred things and keep a separation between church and state. Joe the Potter
well said.
ReplyDeleteHow does the fact that the dead birds' feathers will be used for Native American ceremonies fit into the allegory? I'll have to think about that one.
